PAF Cat and Dog Tails

We have adopted hundreds of little rescues to new homes but don't have time to put all their stories up on the webpage.  Here are just some of PAF Rescued Rascals and their stories!

All these fortunate little ones have been adopted !  We will update their stories when we have time!

CASEY & SWEETPEA Click here to see Casey & Sweetpea
Our names are Casey and Sweetpea.  (Brother and sister).  We are about 4 months old.  We were rescued with our Mom at the Vernon City Dump.  Casey (male) is very sweet and loves to run around and play.  Sweetpea is also very sweet and is receiving socialization right now and is making great progress.  They love each other very much and are looking for an indoor home together.  They are spayed, neutered, vaccinated & dewormed.  If you are that perfect home please call Carol at 604-535-1481.
OPHELIA Click here to see Ophelia
She's adorable and affectionate . . .   and all alone in this world !  She's probably about 9 years old but really healthy and in good shape.  She would be an ideal companion as she's sweet and loving and doesn't need anything except someone to love her.  She's spayed, of course, and is anxiously waiting for that special someone to give her a loving home.
TOBY & PIPER Click here to see Toby & Piper
Born in a vacant lot in North Vancouver to a wild feral mommy.  Our feeder spotted them one morning while leaving food and water for the hungry cats.  Within a day we had humanely trapped the kittens.  They were scared and shy at first but both have blossomed into playful, mischievious kittens.  Because they are so bonded, we would like to find a home for them together.  They have been vet checked, received first shots, de-worming and Advantage for flea treatment.  Since they are approx. 16 weeks old, they will be neutered and spayed next week and ready for a home soon after that.  Toby is a grey male and Piper is a black female with beautiful green eyes and both have medium length fur.
RIVER Click here to see River
Just rescued ! - A very affectionate little boy that was on a "fast food" diet !  He survived by eating french fries and left-over garbage from dumpsters !  River has a beautiful silver grey coat (short fur), 4 white paws and lovely green eyes.  He loves people and seems ok with dogs.  If you have room in your heart and home for this handsome boy, please contact us at 604-986-8124.
PUMPKIN Click here to see Pumpkin
Our poor boy just lost his home - a nice house with a garden for him to play in.  His owner loved him dearly but was just recently moved to a long term care facility.  Pumpkin is Mr. Friendly !  He is a short haired ginger tabby with striking yellow eyes and a twist in his tail.  The little guy is about 5+ years old, neutered, vaccinated and recently de-wormed.  He is probably best in a single cat home as he is used to getting ALL the attention.  He is extremely affectionate, purrs loudly and chats to you!  He is used to adults only although he might be ok with older children. UPDATE:  Pumpkin seems fine with other cats.  He has been with a male and female cat in his foster home so he might like to have a cat pal in his new home !
FELICITY Click here to see Felicity
She was just rescued last week so is recovering from being spayed and learning what it's like to live in a home.  She uses the litter box very well. She was most likely abandoned as a young cat and has been foraging for food since.  Luckily we got her off the street before she became pregnant which would have happened anytime this Spring.  She likes to be cuddled in a big fluffy blanket - probably gives her security.  She will need a quiet, understanding home so probably best with adults.  Our little beauty is about 1 year old with a soft grey and white coat.
WILLIAM OF ORANGE Click here to see William
William came to us as a street cat with a short tail and a scar down his side, possibly from a fan belt injury.  He's a 3 year old orange tabby with lovely long fur and he's been neutered !  He will tolerate other cats and dogs but he would prefer a home where he could be the only cat.
LIAM Click here to see Liam
An adorable dilute orange tabby !  Liam is a neutered male with short fur.  He is good with both cats and dogs but would prefer an adult only home !
LILY
Lily is a roughly 3 year old spayed female Siamese cross. Lily was abandoned on a farm with her kittens when the residents sold the property and moved away. Neighbours kindly re-homed the kittens, but were unable to find anyone willing to take dear Lily. We spayed, vaccinated, tattooed, and de-wormed Lily, and found her a wonderful new mum, where Lily stayed for almost a year, until unfortunately her new mum was hospitalized with unforseen medical conditions. So now she is back and looking for a new family. Lily is good with dogs and cats, is very cuddly and friendly with people.
For more info on Lily please email eight-dogs-later@shaw.ca
3 "Mouseketeers
Well, this is a tall order !  We think they might need to go together !  They are Brutus' siblings (see below).  They are all so bonded and would probably be miserable without each other.  These little ones are a SPECIAL CASE.  They are all dock kittens and are still extremely shy but progressing every day to becoming tamer.  They've had a rough go since the beginning.  All have had upper respiratory (like a cold in humans) and, because they were so shy (yet feisty), they were hard to medicate.  We are still putting some eye ointment in every day but they are on the road to recovery.  At this point, if you try to pick them up, they run away.  However, they forget themselves when they are playing hard with a feather or fleece ribbon and run right over your lap if you are on the floor.  We need a PATIENT, adult-only  home with no timetable for them to be lap kitties.  They've all been fixed, vaccinated and tattooed.  Call us if you are interested in learning more about them.
TREVOR Click here to see Trevor
Trevor is a 2 year old neutered male black and white shorthair. Trevor was abandoned by his owners sometime last summer, and has been on his own until we received word of his plight just before Christmas. He has now been neutered, tattooed, de-wormed, and vaccinated, as well as socialized with other cats and dogs. Trevor is a very friendly fellow who gets along with everyone and rarely loses his cool. He's a young, healthy, well adjusted boy who is waiting for a permanent family. For more info on Trevor, please email eight-dogs-later@shaw.ca.
BRUTUS Click here to see Brutus
He's shy and will be shy in his new home for awhile but . . .   he's so adorable.  He was born down on the docks in North Van. and was destined to live begging for scraps of food and trying to find shelter from the rain and cold.   But little guy went into our trap and things started looking up for him.  He's now neutered, tattooed, vaccinated and de-wormed.  He uses the litter box perfectly and is always curious about what's for dinner.  If you reach down to pat, he runs away . .  but not far.  He plays hard and then will lie quietly and that's usually the time to reach out with your hands.  When you do get him in your lap he loves it !  He will stretch while you scratch and stroke him so we think he will eventually be quite willing to come for cuddles.  Best in an adult only home (with patience) and probably ok with another cat for a companion.  We are hoping for an indoor/outdoor home although he would need to stay inside probably through the winter to get used to his new home.   He's about 5 months old.
GINGER BOY Click here to see Ginger Boy
Three weeks ago this little guy was wandering the streets, unneutered, no place to call home and had some scratches on his head and nose and a rip in his right ear !  And he's barely more than a baby - just about a year old.  He was so hungry he went in our trap for the food.  So, now he's neutered, tattooed, vaccinated and his scratches have healed.  Looks like he'll always have that tattered ear, though.  Kind of gives him character and what a character he is !  He's just like a little kid that wants his own way and wants it NOW !  He's learning that he can't have attention ALL the time because you can't get anything else done.  He's so frantic for affection (and glad to be rescued) that he needs a quiet home to give him some calmness, stability and give him the confidence that food and love won't disappear if he closes his eyes.  An adult only home with no other cats or dogs and a little access to a garden would be ideal for this little boy.
PEKOE Click here to see Pekoe
Orange tabby, male kitten, long hair - approx. 16 weeks old (Oct. 4/02).  May or may not be sister to Sunshine (see below).  Found in Saltspring backyard and the people wanted to "get rid" of him.   Sweet, gentle but shy personality - probably not good with young children.  Probably best with another kitten for company.  Snuggles with Sunshine.  He has had his 1st shots, de-worming and vet check.  Possible home with Sunshine ?
SUNSHINE Click here to see Sunshine
Orange striped tabby, female kitten with short hair -  approx. 16 weeks old (Oct. 4/02).  This lovely little girl wants so much to learn how to play and have fun.  Only rescued a short time ago from same backyard as Pekoe (see above).   Shy, but sweet - not good with young children but might be ok with older kids.  She has had her 1st shots, de-worming and vet check.
BUG Click here to see Bug
Little guy has been living in the bushes outside a North Vancouver apartment building and looking for hand-outs.  Such a baby - (only about 13 weeks old - Sept. 8) and no home !  Luckily he went in our trap last week and we took him straight to the vet.  He was pretty scared and we thought he might be too wild already to get adopted BUT we, (or should we say, Bug) got lucky !  We put him in a room with some other kittens and gave him good food and a cozy place to sleep and he has made amazing progress in just a few days.  We can hold him, stroke him and he's learning to play !  He is adoptable !  A beautiful little smoke grey  striped tabby with white paws and bib, he really needs another kitten or young cat playmate - maybe Sammy listed below ?  A darling pair !
ALI Click here to see Ali
Dear little Ali was wandering a North Vancouver City townhouse complex with her two siblings and her mother.  We thought she might not be tame enough to be adopted because she was about 16 weeks old (Sept., 18th) but she has turned into a very sweet, gentle little soul.  She loves affection and purrs loudly when cuddled.  She is black and white with medium-long fur and needs a home with other animal pals to keep her company.
JOEY Click here to see Joey
Joey is Ali's brother (see above) wandering the same townhouse complex looking for food.  He's a beautiful white tabby boy with an expressive little face - about 16 weeks old.  He's a little shy and is looking for a quiet, loving home with another cat pal to play with.  He loves being snuggled under your neck and will even pat your face.  He's just learning what toys are all about.
SOPHIE Click here to see Sophie
Mom (Sophie) was found nursing 3 tiny kittens between a garden shed and a backyard fence. She would show up at Caroline & Lesley's place for food and then disappear behind the fence again. After awhile she started bringing her brood to feed on their back patio. Finally, with a lot of coaxing, she was lured, along with her kittens, into the house. Sophie is very gentle and delicate - she has a triangular face (Siamese in her background ?) with a short, sleek black coat and tiny white bib on her chest. She has now been spayed, vaccinated and tattooed and is ready for a home of her own now that she has raised her family. She likes to go outside for some fresh air most days so a little outdoor access would be perfect for her.
SAMMY & ANDIE Click here to see them
Little Sammy is now approx. 16 weeks old (Oct. 15) and has been to the vet for his first examination, vaccination and de-worming.  His sister, Andie, has already been adopted but Sammy is still looking for his new home !  He is a little show-off, always hogging the fleece ribbon or the feather from the other kittens as he's so fast and smart !  He loves playing tag with the other kittens and roars around the house like an elephant, so it would be nice if he went to a home where there is another kitten or cat for company.
TATUM & WICKETT Click here to see them
Do they get much cuter ?   Two darling little fluffy, tabby sisters who are so bonded - they need a new home together !  They are now 10 weeks old (Nov. 4th) and have been to the vet for their first examination, vaccinations and de-worming.  They are healthy and ready to go !  They were only two days old when we found their mother struggling to care for her litter of 5.   They needed immediate nursing care because Mom was so thin and didn't have much milk.  They have flourished and are now full of energy and mischief !  Their other siblings have been adopted and so has Mom so now it's their turn !  Room for two in your house ??
LEXIE Click here to see Lexie
Lexie is just over 3 years old.  She is a beautiful calico, spayed female - very affectionate and gentle and loves to have her belly rubbed.  She would be best in an adult home or a home with older children.  Lexie would like to be the only cat and enjoy some outdoor access in her very own garden - do you have room in your hearts for this sweet girl?
ALVIN Click here to see Alvin
Alvin's mostly soft grey with a white patch on his face and white paws.  He  and his sister, Amelia (see above) were rescued on the same day.  Two kittens living outside and trying to make their way in the tough world of outside cats.  Alvin's adorable but shy.  He loves to cuddle in the pet bed and peer out at the others playing.  He will reach out for the fleece ribbon when we dangle it in front of him and he's becoming more outgoing with the other toys !  He's learning that play is fun.  He, also, would be best in an adult only home and will need another kitten or cat as a buddy - or, of course, someone could adopt both of them together as a pair !  Alvin is 6 months old and has been neutered. (Dec. 02)
SCARLETT Click here to see Scarlett
Another rescue from a vacant lot in North Vancouver ! We figure she's Buzzy's sister because she was found at the same place, is the same age (now 6 months old - Dec. 1st) and is dark chocolately- brown with beautiful green eyes like Buzzy's.  She is sweet, very playful and mischievous but shy at first with strangers.  Doesn't take too long and then she is determined to outrun and outplay all the other kittens !  She wants to be part of "the gang" so she needs a home with another kitten or young cat to bond and play with. She would be best in a home with adults only or maybe a home with older children!  Eventually it would be nice for her to have a garden to chase butterflies in or sleep in the sun under some bushes.
BENTLEY Click here to see Bentley
A big, gentle friendly puss - that's Bentley !  He's a neutered, short-haired white tabby cat, 4 years old, and he's hoping for his own home by Christmas !   He is very social with humans but we don't know if he likes other cats so probably a single cat home would be best.  He's very happy to be off the street and to have a regular meal to count on - he loves wet food !  He's recently been to the vet and had some teeth work done and now he's ready to go !
STELLA Click here to see Stella
We got her off the street just in time - she was in heat ! Another unspayed female just abandoned and fending for herself as best she could.  But, by early next February, she would have been struggling to look after her kittens under some scraps of lumber or an old tire in a rainy vacant lot.  We took her straight to the vet and Stella has now been spayed, vaccinated, tattooed and de-wormed.  She's just a sweetheart - affectionate, gentle and she gets along fine with the other cats in her foster home !  Stella is short-haired and almost all black with a white smudge under her chin.  She's approx. 2 - 3 years old !
ROSIE Click here to see Rosie
Jan. 1/03 - Rosie is still waiting for that kind, compassionate home to adopt her.  She is a little street cat that has had a tough life.  She had lots of kittens before we managed to get her spayed.  She was covered in fleas and anemic but has now been treated for fleas, de-wormed and is being fed good quality food.  Rosie also had some dental work done (Sept. 4/02) and a few teeth had to be pulled.  During her vet work, we discovered little Rosie's immune system is not 100%.  She has tested positive for feline leukemia but does not show any symptoms of illness. She definitely needs a quiet, understanding, loving (indoor only) home for the rest of her life. If you think Rosie might be a good companion for you, please get in touch with us.  Rosie is about 5 - 6 years old and a black/white short haired cat with a gentle purr.  She loves being brushed and lies quietly for it - almost like she can't believe her good luck with each loving stroke.  PAF will either pay or help pay any future vet bills if Rosie needs anything.  We think she will make someone a wonderful, sweet friend.
BILLY Click here to see Billy
He's a lovely, affectionate boy but he wants a single cat home !  Although he has lived with another cat, dog and toddler, he would "purr-fer" a quieter place to bring his toys.  Billy is a handsome 5 year old, neutered, black and white, medium-length haired cat who tips the scale at a healthy 15 pounds !  He is declawed but wants some outdoor access.  He is very social with humans.
AMELIA Click here to see Amelia
We think Amelia is Bug's little sister.  (see Bug below)  It took awhile to catch her but, in early Oct., one of our volunteers caught both her and her brother in a trap outside an apartment building in North Vancouver City. She's another black-striped smoke tabby just like Bug.  She's a wee bit shy of new people but she likes quiet attention.  If she's feeling especially comfortable, she purrs and flops on her side for strokes and pats.  She's recently decided that she LOVES being brushed and turns her head and body all around to get more!  Amelia is a sweet, gentle little soul and would probably do best in an adult only home.  She'd be a fine companion to another cat as she is used to being with other cats and kittens.  Amelia is about 6 months old (Dec. 02) and has been spayed.
HARVEY & HARRY Click here to see them
These two are sweet boys longing for a home together.  They were found wandering, un-neutered and begging for food.   PAF was asked to help so we have taken over their care.  Both are now neutered, tattooed, vaccinated and de-wormed.  Harvey had a minor hernia when he was found so we had that repaired when he was at the vet.  Shouldn't be any future problem.  They are very loving after a few tentative days of shyness.  Both adore being brushed and strut back and forth in front of you waiting for their turn.  Since they are used to outdoor access, a home with a garden would be ideal.
LILY Click here to see Lily
Lily is adorable !  A dainty black female cat about 7 years old.  She has short, shiny fur and a triangular shaped face so we think she has some Siamese in her background.  She does chat to you but not constantly.  Lily would like some outdoor access as she lived in a house.  Of course, she is spayed.  Ready to go to the right home !
SKITTLES & FREEWAY Click here to see them
Skittles and Freeway need a new home !  Skittles is a handsome 12 year old, neutered male with lovely black & white long fur.  Both are extremely affectionate and playful and love humans !  Skittles needs a chewable tablet twice a day because of a thyroid condition but the tablets can just be put in his food.  Freeway is a short haired black & white neutered guy who would love to stay with his brother, Skittles.  Skittles and Freeway have been together a long time now and are currently residing at Marine Drive Vet Clinic (in boarding) so, if you are interested, please give them a call at (604) 988-2177.  The boys have been boarding since December and are in need of a home as quickly as possible.  They're ready and raring to go!
SEAMUS Click here to see Seamus
He's on the road to recovery now that he's been rescued from the streets !  He was so thin his little flanks were hollow and he had a cracked tooth which has been now been removed.  His coat is a dark smoke colour and fairly long. Seamus is a young, neutered male who would love a home and a garden.  He's very friendly and happy to be eating regular meals.   Probably a single cat home would be best so he doesn't have to share all the affection bound to come his way ! Content to lie on the floor near you !
Francesca Click here to see Francesca
Hi!   My name is Francesca. I am a domestic short hair, black and white, declawed, 11 years young (perfect age), sincere, single, LOVING kitty.  My mommy loves me very much, but she met a wonderful man, (who loves me too), but unfortunately, can't handle my free flowing locks. He has tried for months, but he's severely allergic to me !  So, needless to say, I am looking for love!  I don't need much except affection and FOOD.........love that!!   Because I'm declawed, I am mostly an indoor kitty, although, I will meander about a fenced yard or deck for a quick tan. I have a tiny fear of children, I'm not sure why, so I would prefer a more mature environment.  Please consider me as a companion....I won't let you down !  P.S. I just had all my shots, and thorough check-up.....great picture of health  !!!!   Hope to hear from MEW soon!!!     -  Love, Francesca!
GRADY Click here to see Grady
RE-UNITED WITH HIS FAMILY!!  A
very sweet, gentle boy found wandering a complex in North Vancouver.  He had a tattoo but it led to a dead end.  However, we were able to ascertain he was neutered 12 years ago so we know his approx. age.  He's a ginger orange-striped tabby with white paws and a large white patch on his face ! Grady has a slender body (which needs a little beefing up) and graceful long legs !  He loves to play and is very social - purring and following you from room to room to see what you are doing.  He would make a "purr-fect" companion for someone's elderly mother or perhaps a retired couple !  He's been to the vet for a check and de-worming - all he really needs now is LOVE and TLC !  Oh yes,  he'd probably like a little outdoor access !
PACO Click here to see Paco
Paco has been waiting for a new home for a long time now.  He is friendly, loveable and has a mind of his own (what cat doesn't ?!).  He is a gorgeous, black, neutered 5 year old male cat.  He has a big round face and beautiful green eyes.  His short fur is soft and shiny because he loves to eat some raw food along with canned and dry.  He LOVES to play with ping pong balls and a big yellow feather! He flops on his back to lay at your feet if you are in the room.   Paco likes to go outside for awhile each day but doesn't stay out long nor go too far.  Paco would prefer to be the only animal in the house because he wants ALL the attention !  We think he would do well in an adult only home with some company part of the day as he just loves human companionship.
BABY BUZZY Click here to see Baby Buzzy
Found in a vacant lot next to a building where some cats were being fed, this tiny feral kitten (born from a wild mother cat) was lying on the dirt in some bushes.  We thought he was dead because he didn't move when we approached.  He was still alive but barely.  He had weepy eyes that were glued shut and he was so emaciated that his bones stuck out sharply through his skin. We rushed him to the vet who said his body temperature was at a bare minimum for life.  He only weighed 13 oz.  With intense nursing, he has made it and is now, 3 weeks later, putting on weight and running around.  Fuzzy Buzzy is 7 weeks old (Aug. 31), all black except for a tiny white patch under his chin and will be medium to long hair.  He really wants another cat, kitten or dog to play with so we are looking for a home where he can have a pal.
CINNAMON & TEDDY Click here to see Cinnamon and Teddy
These two are long distance travellers from Tofino and they have a little brother (Toby) listed below !  All three were born in a vacant lot next to a fish plant and were destined to live outside, without homes, until some wonderful people on the Island stepped in to help !  We'd like Cinnamon and her brother, Teddy, to be adopted together as they seemed to have bonded.  Both are shy (especially Cinnamon) but, when you actually put her in your lap and start stroking her, she relaxes, purrs and goes to sleep.  She is orange tabby & white with short hair and Teddy is black & white with longish fur.  All three kittens are nearly 16 weeks old and have been to the vet for their first shots & de-worming.
TOBY Click here to see Toby
This playful little guy is black & white with short hair and a black spot on his nose!  He is one of three kittens rescued from Tofino (see story of Cinnamon & Teddy above).  He pals around with an adult male cat in his foster home so we'd like him to go to a home where there is another animal friend for him (he is young enough that he'd learn to live with a cat-friendly dog!).  He will be shy at first but doesn't keep up that bluster for very long when someone wants to play with him!
KATO & SPOT Click here to see Kato and Spot
Two adorable little furballs that would like a home together !   Kato (all black) is slightly bigger, playful, curious and energetic - always running after the ball first.  His little brother, Spot, (all black with white spot under chin) is a gentler nature - he cuddles beside you, purrs easily and is content to be on your lap being stroked.  These 18 week old kittens have been to the vet for their first shots and de-worming and are now ready for a home to call their own.  Is there room in your home for two more ?
RAVEN Click here to see Raven
This little guy was hurt when we picked him up.  His right front paw had a huge open wound and was all infected.  He came limping for food that one of our volunteers was leaving so we immediately rushed him to medical treatment.  He needed surgery, stitches and antibiotics but his paw healed well and is now just fine.  He wasn't neutered either so we had that done in addition to a vaccination, de-worming and a tattoo for identification.  Raven is about 3 yrs. old, very playful and affectionate.  He gets along really well with the small dog the foster home has.  Raven is all black with a big chubby face and he is fond of talking.
JENNY Click here to see Jenny
Her elderly owner died and Jenny lost her home.  She's a shy cat, at first, having only been used to her quiet home with a slower routine.  But Jenny has a sweet personality - when you win her trust, she purrs loudly and talks to you.  She likes to roll around in your lap and loves being brushed.  Jenny's in good health, spayed and vaccinated so is all ready to go to a quiet, loving home. She doesn't like other cats, having been the "queen" before, so she needs a single cat home with a little outdoor access for lying in the sun if she chooses !  This beautiful little white tabby is approximately 5 years old.
KOKO Click here to see Koko
A very sweet little boy !  Koko was abandoned and needs a new home !  He was underweight and had ear mites when we rescued him !  He has been to the vet, received medication for his ear mites, neutered, tattooed and vaccinated.  Koko is extremely affectionate, gentle and playful !  He's quite a talker, usually meowing to the cats outside his foster home and rolling on the floor showing them he's not aggressive.  We think it would be nice for him to have a cat pal in his new home !  He also would like a little outdoor access for a sleep in the sunshine one of these days !
ALISTAIRE Click  here to see Alistaire
Alistaire is an extremely playful boy who is full of fun and energy !   He has short black and white fur and a big pink nose.  He is just over a year old, neutered, tattooed and vaccinated.  He's a rough and tumble sort of guy so needs a house and some outdoor access in a safe yard or he'll be bouncing off the walls ! Alistaire has been in a foster home with other cats and doesn't seem to mind them so likely would be ok living in a home with another cat.
CHESTER Click here to see Chester
Little guy was found wandering the streets during the recent cold snap in January.  He would show up at the patio door of Sheila's place about 1:00 a.m. and look in her window at the nice, warm cozy apartment.  Sheila started watching for him every night and feeding him but, when she tried to coax him inside, he was too scared.  We finally caught him and away to the vet he went.   He was neutered, vaccinated, tattooed and de-wormed.  Our foster home says he's a "food hound" - just eats everything and that's because he's on the thin side.  Chester needs a loving home on the patient side to win his trust !  He loves his nose and face rubbed and has just discovered catnip which he can't resist.  This adorable tabby would be best in a home with no children.
MAGGIE Click here to see Maggie
This little one has been struggling to live on the street for nearly 5 years.  She was first abandoned in December 1996 with her little kitten in tow.  Maggie was less than a year herself and already a mother !  We had her spayed and her kitten was taken in by the kind people who noticed them.  But Maggie was shy and not prepared, at that time, to live with the young family. They moved away but eventually someone else noticed her and began feeding her regularly on their porch.   Where she slept on cold rainy nights in winter is anyone's guess.  In October 2001 she was injured in a cat fight and, with a huge open wound on her face, crawled to Susan's for food.  PAF rushed her to vet care and now her face has healed nicely.  She is a sweet, gentle little thing - tiny boned and only about 5 - 6 pounds.  We think she's just about ready for a home - a quiet, peaceful place where someone is home a fair bit because she's so loving !  She peeks out from beneath the table at you and, with encouragement, will come and curl in your lap, purring up a storm.  Is there a home for her at your place ?   PS.  We've learned that Maggie likes male cats and would probably be ok with a gentle, adult male cat.  She chats to them and sashays back and forth in front of them !
MATT & TASHA Click here to see Matt and Tasha
These little ones need a home together !  Rescued from a barn in Abbotsford, they have grown close and call to one another if they end up in separate rooms! Matt is an outgoing little rascal - chirping to greet you and running over for pats with Tasha watching to see if it's okay and getting the "all right" signal from her brother!  She immediately runs over, starts purring up a storm and rolling on her back for tummy rubs ! Tasha is a calico with orange, black and white fur and Matt is black and white.  They are 9 weeks old (Nov. 18) and have had their first vet examination, vaccinations and deworming.
ELLIE Click here to see Ellie
A darling little female tabby cat !  Ellie is about 3 1/2 years old, spayed, tattooed and has had shots.  Unfortunately her owner died and she's now without a home to call her own.  She lived in a small house with a backyard garden so she could go outside a little and sleep in the sunshine and smell the roses !  She would be just perfect for a single lady/retired couple as she is used to having company around.  She is playful, gentle, affectionate and loves her orange mousie !

BONNIE BUNNY Click here to see Bonnie
Bonnie is a dwarf cream bunny with chocolate-coloured ears and markings looking for a loving indoor home, without dogs.  She gets along fine with guinea pigs though!  Bonnie loves to eat carrot tops and hay and bangs her food dish on the floor when she wants more!
SCAMP Click here to see Scamp
A real sweetheart - big, friendly and mellow !  Scamp has had a bit of a rough time - abandoned when he was about 2 years old and then passed around.  Now at age 7, he needs someone to love and cherish him and a place for him to bring his blankie and toys FOREVER !  He has been neutered, tattooed, vaccinated and his teeth were recently done. Scamp appears totally healthy but his immune system is not 100% so he needs to be the only kitty in his new home.  He is used to living with dogs so no problem there ! A real people-lover!

UPDATE - Dec. 2001 - Well, our boy REALLY lucked out big time !  Sally was looking for just such a "scamp" and it was love at first sight !  Of course, Scamp knew what he wanted and promptly made himself at home in her big easy chair and insisted that his blankie be on it at all times so he could nap whenever he felt like it !  Sally showered him with toys and attention and he just lapped it up.  After a life of abandonment, Scamp has FINALLY found his home, thanks to Sally.

LUCAS

Lucas was found wandering a residential neighbourhood searching for food.  He was very thin, cold and scruffy.  Because he wasn't neutered, he was always involved in fights with other cats and has the scars to prove it !  We had Lucas neutered, tattooed, de-wormed and vaccinated.  He also had his teeth scaled and a couple extracted and then his mouth was in good shape!  He was such a friendly and affectionate boy - a lap cat and good, chatty companion but he also tended to nip for attention.   He needed to "re-learn" his manners.  Cats that have been on their own for a long time and have had to fend for themselves often bite for attention.  Lucas improved a great deal deal since March when he was rescued.  He was truly the definition of a "street cat" and was so happy to have been rescued and loved.   We learned in May that dear little Lucas was diabetic. He required two small insulin shots a day but he didn't mind a bit.  You just needed to put a plate of food in front of him !

UPDATE - Nov. 2001 - Lucas' health took a turn for the worse in late October and we knew it was getting too difficult for him.  He slipped away from us cuddled in a blanket and lots of love.  We have wonderful memories of him and will never forget his spirit !

EVE

Eve is a beautiful, friendly young female calico.  She was abandoned with her 2-week old kittens outside a grocery store - thin and unable to properly care for her babies. She lived in a foster home for nearly 8 weeks while her babies grew and learned how to groom themselves and use the litter box !  At 8 weeks old the kittens were taken to the vet for shots and deworming and then all adopted to wonderful homes !  Eve was spayed, tattooed and vaccinated and has finally gained some weight !

UPDATE - Nov. 2001 - Eve was adopted with one of her kittens (Baby Owen) and they joined a family that already had one of our early summer kittens.  The two little boy kittens play like crazy but Owen still cuddles up with Mom at night !

BOBBY

Bobby is a CKC Registered Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie) with papers.  He is a 1-year old, sable and white, neutered male - very small, under 25 pounds.  He was given away by a breeder - perhaps because of a small underbite.  He is extremely shy and scared - prefers to remain in small spaces, probably because of being constantly caged.  Bobby has shown no signs of being a fear-biter, he's just scared and needs love and patient attention.  He is not currently house-broken or leash trained, but we are looking for either a foster or permanent home to help in his rehabilitation.

UPDATE - July 2001 - Lucky Bobby was adopted by a wonderful North Vancouver family and is enjoying a home with two little boys who are great companions to play with.

Daisy is a CKC Registered Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie) with papers.  She is a 1-year old, tri-color (black, white and tan), spayed female, 25 to 30 pounds.  She was originally purchased from a breeder, but her owners were unable to keep her.  Daisy is friendly and sociable - perhaps a little shy at first.  She plays well with other dogs.

UPDATE - July 2001 - Daisy was re-named "Zoe" and has been living on the North Shore with a new family and her best pal, Wallace, a 2 year old Sheltie-Collie X.  They are so cute together and everyone in the home is happy that Zoe joined the household !

Tiger is a very friendly, short-hair, neutered, ginger cat with strikingly beautiful blue eyes.  Tiger is a young male looking for a single cat home with a little outdoor access.  He is used to a very active household with lots of young people about, so he's a great family cat!

UPDATE - Nov. 2001 - Tiger was just recently adopted to a family with a 2 year old boy who just learned how to say "Tiger" !  Tiger was such a laid-back, friendly boy that we knew he would be a good match for this family !

RASPY

Big, sweet boy about 3 - 4 years old was just abandoned on the doorstep when his owners moved.  Hungry and cold, he wandered around the neighborhood until he found Jean's yard.  She was already feeding another stray and Raspy would patiently wait his turn at the food until the first little guy finished. It was winter and not much shelter from the rain but he found someplace to sleep.  We helped Jean get the first stray (Dakota) off the street and then it was Raspy's turn.  Poor little guy had a cut paw when we finally got him but, with antibiotics, he was soon on the road to recovery.  He was neutered, tattooed and then we waited for a home.

UPDATE - Sept. 2001 -  Luck was with us pretty quickly !  Good hearted Mike called and Raspy now has his own home with Mike in a garden park-like setting and a big fireplace to sleep in front of this winter !

BECKY & DUDLEY

Click here to see Becky and Dudley

Here's their story   - Becky and Dudley were rescued from the street outside a North Vancouver apartment building in the middle of last winter.  Dudley is  now 14 months old, neutered, tattooed and has had all his shots.  He is short-haired, black with white face, paws and tummy - a big chatty boy.   Becky is a dainty sweetheart with short black and white fur - full of curiosity and fun.  She is nearly 1 year old now, spayed, tattooed and has had her shots.  The two have formed a strong bond and Becky "chirps" at Dudley all the time (she's bossy!)   They will be shy at first in a new home but both are very playful - Dudley loves to cuddle and be brushed and Becky loves to chase a ribbon.

UPDATE - Oct. 2001 - Our patience paid off !  After 8 months of fostering them, we found the PERFECT home for them together !  We knew it was right when Becky took to the new adopter the moment she walked in the room (which surprised and pleased us) ! Dudley played the shy boy for awhile but now thinks of his new home as HOME SWEET HOME and is playing with toys and eating up a storm !

TINY

She needs somebody to love her - as is . . . . .  overweight and moody.  Or maybe it's "sad" because she lost her previous owner.  He was an elderly gentleman who had to move to a long-term care facility and so Tiny lost her home and her friend.  She was 25+ pounds when she was first brought to us.  After a vet visit and blood test to rule out any health problems, we put her on a diet and she has lost quite a few pounds - probably weighs about 18 pounds now !!  She's still on her diet but doing well.  Tiny has short, black and white fur and an attitude - she loves being brushed (but only when SHE wants it), loves to play (but only when SHE wants to) and is ready to eat ALL the time !  Since she lived with the elderly gentleman, she is used to men and quite likes them - she's a flirt !  She comes running to greet you at the door and makes a big fuss of missing you !  Tiny is 3 to 4 years old, spayed, healthy and playful.

UPDATE - Nov. 2001 - After nearly 10 months of waiting in foster homes, Tiny has finally found someone to love her and give her a home.  She is such a character, cute, and sassy, demanding and playful, sweet and loveable  . . . . and someone finally saw that !

UPDATE - Oct. 2001 - Simba was adopted by a North Vancouver retired couple with a house and garden for him to play in and no other cats so he can be the boss !

HEIDI

Heidi is a cute, chatty, 2-year old, short-haired, black/brown, spayed tabby with a chubby face and big green eyes. The black/brown of her coat is mostly in a swirling pattern rather than tabby stripes and her fur is very soft and clean.  She loves to spend time in the garden with you but doesn't roam far !   She's got an inquisitive little personality and will come to greet you and brush against your legs.  She likes to sit beside you on the couch (when it suits her) but doesn't sit on a lap for very long.  She really likes human company but doesn't care for other cats so needs a single-cat home.   She's a very dainty cat and is a small-medium build.

UPDATE - Aug. 2001 - Found a home in Lions Bay with a retired couple that just adore her !  She has a 3 storey home with a huge deck from which to watch birds from and bask in the sunshine !

DAKOTA

Dakota is a sweet 3 to 4 year old, black and white cat with a "got milk?" moustache.  He has short-hair and would like an indoor-outdoor home.  He found a kind lady to feed him when he was hungry this winter and, because there was no identification on him, we couldn't find a previous owner - maybe he never even had someone to love and care for him before because he wasn't neutered.  He went to the vet and has had shots, tattoo, de-worming and is now neutered.   He is friendly and affectionate and so grateful to have been rescued that he follows you around from room to room, chatting away.  If you stop for a few minutes, he flops at your feet and rolls on his back.   When you stop stroking him he bats at your hand to keep going.   Because he hasn't been around young children, we think he would be best in an adult-only home where he can get lots of attention !

UPDATE - Sept. 2001 - This little guy has finally stopped roaming and lives in a house in West Vancouver with a beautiful garden.

HALEY

Haley is a sweet, short-hair, smoke/black female kitten with beautiful copper eyes.  Her Mom, Maya, was rescued just before Haley was born in April 2001.  Mom gave birth in a comfortable foster home with lots of good food and love.  Haley is a playful, inquisitive little girl and likes to be very active!  She is looking for her own home with another cat for a pal and maybe some older children for playmates.

UPDATE - Sept. 2001 - Haley now has another cat and 2 doggie pals to play with in her new home.  Everybody chases everybody madly around the house in games of tag and "you're it" and then she eats popcorn with the gang when everybody is watching a movie !

MAYA

Maya is a young (1+ year old), small, all-black Siamese X short-haired female cat with beautiful yellow eyes.  She was rescued in early April just three weeks before giving birth to 4 tiny kittens on April 20th.  She is now spayed, tattooed and vaccinated.  All the kittens have been adopted and now little Maya needs a loving home for herself !  Maya is shy at first but very affectionate and sweet but doesn't really like other cats too much - we think SHE wants all the attention for herself !  Maya would probably prefer to be in an adult-only home with a little garden/deck access.   She is a darling - please consider a young adult cat !

UPDATE - Sept. 2001 - Haley's mom found a wonderful home to love her and be patient while she learns to trust humans.  She was abandoned at such a young age and had a struggle but now has toys and food, and a fleece tent to sleep in and ribbon to play with !

RUDY

Rudy is a small, sweet, German Shepherd cross that had been owned by a street person.  Rudy was saved by the Vancouver Police because of abuse.  He loves to play with other dogs but is happy on his own if he gets lots of love and attention.  Rudy loves to run after tennis balls and is currently in frisbee training!

UPDATE - June 2001 - Found a great home with a young couple.  He even went to obedience classes after adoption to learn his manners and has a big yard to play in !

CHARLIE

Charlie was a sweet, short-haired neutered male cat with a velvety soft grey coat and big gold eyes.    He was about a year and 1/2  when we rescued him and his brother who had been left behind when their owner was evicted in early May 2001.  Charlie needed a new, loving home where he could bring his toys and blanket.  He loved people and attention but didn't like dogs.  Charlie has now found a great home with Gloria and has a lady cat friend to play with.

MIGHTY MOE

After his owner moved away and left Moe behind, he roamed the strata complex begging for food for 6 months.  It was a cold December day when he was brought to us.  He had tooth surgery and lots of good food to fatten him up.  He was a big, loveable 4-year old, neutered, black and white cat with medium length fur.  Moe was a happy, affectionate boy who loved to go outside a little.  Moe has now found a wonderful home with Allen and Gabrielle.  He has a yard to play in lots of love and attention.

TAFFY
Tabby Kitten

  • Taffy was born on the cold concrete floor of an underground parking garage between a dirty lawnmower and an old hose.  There was no blanket or box so mom tried to keep her warm by lying on her.  Arlene discovered the kitten lying in the middle of a parking stall barely 3 weeks old.  Mom was watching anxiously from nearby but was too scared to come and get her baby.  Taffy and her Mom were rescued and after vet care, both have been adopted to wonderful homes.  Taffy now lives with 3 dogs and another kitten and Cocoa, her Mom, now lives with Arlene and her dog and older cat.

BABY
Tabby Kitten

  • a tough start in life and only 8 weeks old – thrown out of a car window from a concrete overpass at Exhibition Park, this little guy was stunned and in shock when Celia found him lying on the road below. After emergency vet care and tender nursing, he recovered and landed in the lap of luxury in a new home with Pat and Margaret who dote on him. He was soon desperate to play with Sasha, his beautiful Persian step-brother and has now grown into a strong, happy little cat.

MISTY

misty.jpg (57117 bytes)

  • such a sweet, gentle little thing – only 5 years old and given up for euthanasia because she wasn’t wanted anymore. At first, after being rescued, she walked around with fear-filled eyes and her head down like she'd been yelled at a lot. Now she’s in a loving home with another little rescued dog named Mandy and enjoying two walks a day and lots of cuddles with her new owner, Sharon.

PUMPKIN
Orange Kitten

pumpkin.jpg (30412 bytes)

  • getting weighed at the vet ! Too tiny for the regular scale, Pumpkin was having his first exam and vaccination at the vet. His Mom was rescued from a dilapidated shed and 2 weeks later gave birth to Pumpkin and his brother. Marie fostered Mom and babies and later adopted the two kittens. Mom was spayed and found a wonderful, caring home with Pat and her husband.

STUMPY
Black Kitten
with leg cast

stumpy.jpg (44889 bytes)

  • on a freezing December night, Stumpy and his two brothers were rescued cold, hungry and thin. Stumpy’s leg was broken and he was crying and trying to crawl after his brothers. Within the hour, he was at the vet for treatment and all of them were warmed and given food. Valerie and Lawrence became their foster parents until the 3 little boys fattened up and were old enough to be adopted. Here they are for a family portrait !

DOC

This is "DOC" - found wandering in North Vancouver: homeless, injured, unneutered, emaciated, worm and flea infested.  Despite all of this, he was a friendly guy.
After a trip to the vet [neutering, eye surgery, and general cleanup] and fostering [temporary home with good food and attention], DOC is now at home working as the Vice-President of Customer Relations at Bosleys in West Vancouver.
